What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a term used to describe the activities that hold and keep an audience’s attention and interest. It can be a person, idea or thing, but it is more often one of the activities that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience’s attention.

It is a difficult art to master because it requires competency on numerous levels. The underlying core skill or art, the capacity to package that art in compliance with accepted norms or to defy those norms for the sake of the art, and the ability to wrangle the legal thicket that has grown up around entertainment–all of this makes entertainment hard on the artistic and production end.
