The Daily News at Yale University

Daily News

The Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper and serves the Yale community. The News publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year, as well as a weekly Friday supplement known as WKND, the Yale Daily News Magazine and several special issues each year, including the Game Day Issue, Commencement Issue, and First Year Issue. The News is editorially and financially independent from the University. Its editors and writers have gone on to distinguished careers in journalism and public service, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Joseph Lieberman, Sargent Shriver and Strobe Talbott.

The News is committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its business, including journalism, education, and the community. It strives to reflect the diversity of our readers, staffers and alumni through its content and by hosting events, workshops, panel discussions and lectures that explore various perspectives on current social, cultural, political and economic issues. The News also works to support student communities by creating events and partnerships with a variety of organizations and departments on campus, from Yale’s many cultural centers and affiliated student groups to its renowned dining services and residence halls.

In addition to covering the most pressing issues of our time, the News is dedicated to making an impact in our local communities through community coverage and extensive volunteerism. In the past, the News has partnered with local food banks and homeless shelters, donated to literacy programs, and supported students and faculty in need. The News has also been a leader in addressing sexual assault, domestic violence and sexual harassment, and in advocating for the rights of the disabled.

While the News is proud of its long history and its many accomplishments, it remains focused on the future, and on providing a journalistic home for the next generation. We believe the future of news is digital and mobile, and that it requires innovation and leadership from its owners. We also know that we can’t do it without the support of our loyal and generous readers.
