Entertaiment is a collection of art, design and architecture that reflects an evolving culture and the increasing connection between entertainment and leisure. The exhibition shows that familiar forms of entertainment have the ability to cross and adapt to a wide variety of media, to be adapted for a private experience in an individual’s own home; or in an environment designed to accommodate a group or a city; or even to a global audience. This allows the possibility that what appears to be entertainment may actually be a means of attaining insight or intellectual growth. The word entertain derives from the Medieval Latin intertenere, and is related to ten, an Indo-European root meaning to hold inside or to stretch.
